The Snedden Hall & Gallop University Scholarship turns 21 this year! Since we first awarded the scholarships in 1999, we’ve helped almost 40 aspiring lawyers by providing financial assistance during the first three years of their university studies. Many scholarship winners have also been able to join our team, even if only for a short time.
To commemorate this significant birthday, we’re going through the archives to give you an update on where some of those young stars are now.
In this profile we learn more about Gene Schirripa, who is now part of the Snedden Hall & Gallop family.

Gene Schirripa

Where is he now?

We’re pleased to say that Gene is a lawyer, right here at Snedden Hall & Gallop.

How did he get there?

Gene was a student at Marist College in 2012 when he won the Snedden Hall & Gallop university scholarship.
He then went on to study at the Australian National University, graduating in 2017. As part of his studies Gene spent six months at Bocconi University in Milan on exchange, studying commercial law.
Gene joined our team at Snedden Hall & Gallop as a paralegal in 2014, progressing to senior law clerk and now lawyer, after being admitted to the ACT Supreme Court in 2018.

What does Gene say about the scholarship?

‘The scholarship gave me exposure to law as it is practised in real life. This was not only refreshing, but gave me the motivation to get through my degree, giving me an end goal. This work experience was invaluable, and offers a completely different, but equally valuable, approach to learning the law as a student.’
