LAURA WOOD
Associate
Laura joined Snedden Hall & Gallop in July 2022 working in the Employment Law Team and specialises in employment matters. She is deeply passionate about advising clients on their workplace rights and issues. She strives for resolutions, whether it be for the employer, employee, contractor or relevant industrial party.
In her experience to date, Laura regularly advises and assists with misconduct investigations, workplace policies, contracts of employment, claims of discrimination, unfair dismissals, general protections and bullying in the workplace. Laura has appeared before the Fair Work Commission, ACT Court and Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Furthermore, she is presently assisting in a class action in the Federal Court.
Prior to joining SHG, Laura has had experience in working for small to large scale Canberra law firms in the positions of general legal practitioner, government secondee and paralegal. She has also interned at the ACT Human Rights Commission.
Laura was admitted as a lawyer in July 2021 and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Second Class – Div A Honours, 2019) and a Bachelor of Arts (Major: French, Minors: Human Rights and Political Science, 2018) from the Australian National University. As the winner of the 2019 ANU LSS Ashurst Negotiations Competition, she has represented ANU at the Australian Law Students Association Conference.
In her spare time, Laura assists as the Safety and Risk Officer at her local church, is a mentor in the ANU Law MomentuM program and provides tutoring to laws students in a variety of subjects. Laura enjoys travelling overseas, going on food safaris, swimming and bushwalking. She speaks English and French.
